Bhairabkunda A Beautiful Picnic Spot

Bhairabkunda is a popular picnic spot in Udalguri district, Assam. It is located at tri-junction of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan, which is near Daifam of Bhutanese city.

There is a Shiva Mandir which ensures that the pilgrims have extended this place over the years. Here two rivers – Bhairabi, Jampani merge to make Dhansiri river. Dhanashiri river is a major subsidiary of the river Brahmaputra. An irrigation project was built on the Dhansiri river in Bhairabkunda. There was a guideline built inside Bhutan for this project. The construction of the projects took more time than planned due to strong currents and terrorism.

This project is located in Udalguri district under the jurisdiction of Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District (BTAD), which aims to provide assured irrigation in the area of 41.683 hectare (103.00 acres) in five development blocks.

The latter is later the main assistant of the river Brahmaputra. The mountainous background of merging rivers and majestic scenes has made it ideal for the shutterbug. Every year in January, Bhairabkunda tourism festival is organized.
